The interaction of zirconocene dichloride with the heterocyclic β-diketones (LH) and flexible N-protected α/ β-amino acids (AH) in the presence of triethylamine in 1:1:1:2 molar ratio in refluxing dry THF has been resulted in the formation of zirconocene complexes of the general formula (where R= -CH3, -CH2CH3, p-ClC6H4-, -C6H5 and CHR’ = -CH2CH2and R’ = CH(CH3)2). These newly generated zirconocene incorporated organic-inorganic hybrid products have been characterized by FTIR, NMR (1H and 13C) and mass spectrometry. Some of these complexes and their corresponding ligands have been tested for their antimicrobial activity to examine the biopotential activity-structure relationship.
