A series of novel (1-phenyl-1H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)methyl-2-acetamido-1-phenyl-1H-benzo[f] benzo[f]chromene-3-carboxylate 6a-i compounds have been synthesised from prop-2-yn-1yl-3-acetamido-1-phenyl-1H-benzo[f]chromene-2-carboxylate 5. 3-Amino-1-phenyl-1H-benzo[f]chromene-2-carbonitrile and 2-amino-4-phenyl-4a,5,6,7,8,8a-hexahydro-4H-chromene-3-carbonitrile (1 and 2a) are generated when benzaldehyde, β-naphthol, (or) cyclohexanol, and malononitrile are incorporated into the mixture. Activity of two conventional antibiotics, Chloramphenicol and Amphotericin-B, have been compared to the antibacterial and antifungal properties of the prepared synthetic compounds. A study has been conducted on the spectroscopic properties of Schlenter products.
