Dr. Saroj Ghose (1 Sept 1935 – 17 May 2025) was a pioneering science populariser and museum-maker, widely known as the “Father of the Science Centre Movement in India.” He began his career at the Birla Industrial & Technological Museum (BITM) in Kolkata in 1958, rising to become its director in the 1960s. In 1979, he became the founding Director-General of NCSM, a position he held until 1997.
