Science Literature of The Times Evoke: An Analysis of Scientific Temper through Ecocriticism

The article explores Scientific Temper aspects of ecocriticism in literary criticism, through taking eight exemplary scientific English articles from the book “To Nature, With Love, Science. Stories. Solution” from The Times Evoke Collection of The Times of India. These articles are analysed in three thematic categories of Ecofeminism, Anthropocene, and Zoocriticism. Ecocriticism was evolved as a crucial branch in the realm of literature where the connection between literature and environment can be felt by the cultural stories that influence ecological awareness among people. Scientific Literature is an accurate information delivery system, where we can find the aspects of scientific temper elements. Through the lens of ecofeminism the study finds through the identification of the link between the women subjugation and exploitation of the nature. The analyses also focused on the Anthropocene, which examines the deadly effects that had been caused by the human over the nature. This important branch under ecocriticism emphasizes the importance of environmental restoration and the contribution of literature in promoting climate awareness. The zoocriticism is a very necessary field of study in the upcoming generation wherein the exploitation has taken a larger step in making the species go extinct. It is questioning human-cantered narratives and exploring the representation of animals in literature. By analyzing all these eight articles with lens of theories through ecocriticsm, the outcomes illustrate the features of Scientific Temper (ST) present in the popular science literature.
